If packing your fishing gear presents a problem when you are traveling, take along a collapsible fishing rod.
There are a number of choices , but my favorite is a telescoping spinning rod. They come in different lengths and depending on the type of fishing you do, they range from ultralight to medium in most models.

• The pre-spooled line was another sore point with some owners, so for the low cost of monofilament, you might want to re-spool the reel before using the combo.
